CBS 2’s Cindy Hsu checked out the must-have fashions for when the temperatures cool down.
Stores are filled with shoppers who are loving what’s new for fall.
“Such an opportunity to wear scarves, and boots, and sweaters, and it’s just wonderful. I love it,” Mali Clinton said.
“I’m seeing a lot of maroon and black, which are my colors, and the scarves are incredible. So many coats,” Emily Janik said.
Stylist George Brescia says the number one must have for the season is leather.
“First of all, it’s fall. You have to have a piece of leather. Do it however you want. The leather legging, the little leather vest, the leather jacket, the leather detail on one of your blouses or dresses or skirts,” Brescia said.
You may surprised by the season’s colors.
“Pastels, in fall fabrications, especially in knitwear which is so great,” Brescia said.
He suggested trying a soft pink or sea-foam green.
Another big color is red, and a splash of plaid is always fun, even wrapped around your waist. The black and white combo is also still on trend.
When it comes to handbags think big. You’ll see boxy ones, like the doctors’ bags from way back, to add some sparkle.
For shoes you’ll see lots of wedges and booties.
“Wear what looks good on you, for your body. Don’t worry about the trends, they’ll happen,” Brescia said.
Trends come and go, but experts say the key is to have fun with fashion, so if you love it wear it.
For men, experts say size is important. Make sure your clothes are the right size. Instead of big and baggy go for the fitted look.
