6 SUMMER FASHION TRENDS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT

It has already started to get pretty warm in this side of the world. Sunny and bright, summer months bring with them tons of different trends, fabrics, prints and accessories. In this quick post, I bring to you 6 trends which are quickly turning into summer staples for global fashionistas. Read on!
WINDOWPANE
windowpaneprint
There is something so strangely comforting about this print. Scarves and head wraps, trenches, boxy shirts-everything seems to be looking extra summery with this print on.
FLATFORMS
flatformscol
I am a big sucker for heels but trotting around the mall, visits to endless stores leaves me with well blisters and aching feet. Flatforms are the way to go! Adding a bit of height without compromising on the comfort.

SHEER PANEL

I had recently posted an OOTD , where I had a blue dress with sheer panels on. It can be styled in so many different ways, and looks really chic without being too risque :D
CROCHET LACE
crochetcol
Crochet was all over Coachella this year (well, like most other years). So if you want to unleash the Bohemian in you, crochet is the way to go!
TRUMPET SLEEVES
trumpetcol
Some years back, bell sleeves were my thing you know. I used to love chiffon blouses which had that little slouch in the end. But ever since I have seen the trumpet sleeve trend, well I have been dying to get hold of something, anything! A dress, blouse, romper. (lemme know about any cute ones you find.)
MARBLE PRINT
marblecol
This crackly marbelisque print is yet again a summer must have. Looks great on the mani, looks great as an outfit must have too!

Five Summer Fashion Trends to Try

Warmer Weather is in Full Swing

Before you know it, you’ll be pulling out those sandals and summer clothes. Whether you’re a mom who works outside or inside the home, these five up and coming trends are easy to work into your everyday wardrobe. In the office, at the park, or even sweeping up cereal, these trends will have you looking and feeling great all summer long.

Hello, Yellow!

In case you haven’t noticed, the color yellow is having a huge moment in the fashion world. And why not? Bright, sunny, and cheerful, it represents summer in a major way. If you’ve got the complexion for it, invest in a cute yellow sundress or top. If you’re like me and you end up looking like a giant banana, opt instead for colorful accessories like earrings, a pair of yellow flats, or a sunny clutch. Not only will you be right on trend, it’ll lift your mood and put a smile on your face at the same time.

A Shirt? A Dress? Yes!

Say hello to the season’s favorite one-piece; the shirtdress. Comfortable and casual, it works for day or night depending on your choice of accessories and shoes. In a pinch, you can even throw it over a bathing suit as a cover-up while soaking up the sun at the beach. It’s the perfect garment for just about any occasion. Even if you’re going to be on the floor or the playground with littles, just add a pair of spandex shorts underneath and you’re good to go.

Neatly Nautical

Nautical has been a summer staple for years now, and it looks like that’s not changing anytime soon. Something about the crisp look of blue and white together channels that breezy feeling of sailing on a warm afternoon and makes us feel one step closer to the shore. A striped blue and white shirt is the quintessential “must-have,” but there are tons of other ways to wear the nautical trend too. A pair of boat shoes, a shirt or jewelry featuring tasteful anchors, or a pair of high waisted sailor shorts with a fresh white tee will do the trick. This casual but put-together look works just as well running errands as it does when you’re out for lunch with the girls or catching a movie with the hubby.

Light and White

We’ve all learned {sometimes the hard way} that we stay much cooler in the heat of the sun wearing light colors than we do decked out in head-to-toe black. Maybe that’s why summer is often synonymous with breezy white and eyelet. A flowing white maxi, a white lace top, an oversized white sun hat…you can’t go wrong! Try it head-to-toe for a real summer feel. This one is probably the trickiest trend for a busy mom to pull off on a daily basis because we know how easy it is to get dirty while caring for our kiddos, but it’s a great idea for the office or a date night outfit!

The Big {Make That Small} Reveal

This summer a little goes a long way with fashions designed to reveal just a little. Sheer fabrics, lace, and cut-outs are all over the runway, and while the models take it to an extreme, you and I can easily add a little bit of modest intrigue. Trust me, I don’t want to wear a crop top any more than you do, although those are still on trend too, but pieces with small, tasteful cutouts or lace detailing can boost your confidence and make hubby take notice. Done right, these fashions can even be appropriate for your everyday mom duties. Wearing the right types of garments underneath something sheer or lacy makes them cute and summery rather than too revealing. Only choose pieces that you’re comfortable in, then show off your best features. Personally, I like halter style tops and one shoulder fashions that show off the shoulder and back area while covering up everything that I want covered.

What do you think? Which of these trends can you pull off with things that are already in your closet? Which ones do you think you’ll try this summer? Outfitted: Picture Perfect Fashion

Hi everyone,
Looking photogenic is not something that comes naturally to most of us, which can make picture day all the more intimidating. Luckily, though, I’ve figured out some great tricks over the years that can help! Smart outfit planning is one of the first steps to nailing that “picture-perfect” look, so for today’s Outfitted post, I’m breaking down my latest tutorial to help you find the right look for any and all of your photo ops.

1. Stick with studs - Even though dangling earrings are really pretty in person, they tend to make your neck appear shorter than it is when photographed. Instead, pick a pair of cute studs that showcase your taste and personality!

2. Choose your neckline wisely - Most school pictures are all about your face, so you want to choose a neckline that draws the eye upward. There are lots of ways to make this happen. Here a few ideas…

- Detailed collars are a great way to frame face and are really stylish…

- Intricate necklines give a bold, dramatic look…

- Scoop necklines give your lower neck some attention…

- Casual boyfriend-cut collared shirts give a laid back look…

- Or throw on a scarf to add some extra interest…

3. Wear non-reflective lenses - If you wear glasses, make sure they have non-reflective lenses or an anti-reflective coating so you avoid unwanted reflections from the flash!

4. Be yourself - Don’t be afraid to express your mood–whether it’s edgy or feminine, just be you!

5 UNUSUAL BEAUTY TOOLS THAT ARE SURPRISINGLY PRACTICAL

People don’t always think of the beauty industry as a leader in technological innovation, but it certainly is. New technologies are constantly being created, especially in regards to skin care and makeup application, and old techniques are always being perfected. (No wonder there are as many products as there are out on the market these days for us to try.) These five tools may look freaky, but they’re more practical than they seem.
Unusual Beauty Tools
  1. NuFace Facial Toning Device: This cute portable machine uses one of the aformentioned beauty technologies – microcurrent technology – to provide a mini, noninvasive facelift. The microcurrent stimulates your skin (more soothing than it sounds!) to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while toning and contouring.
  2. Babyliss Nano Titanium MiraCurl Machine: It looks a little funky, but this device is simply a different type of hot tool that hit the market a few years back. It’s an automatic curling iron, which means it literally creates the curls for you; no kinking like a traditional curler or wrapping like a wand. The motor inside it, which is behind each curl, allows you to customize the type of curl you receive, from perfect coils to lusciously loose waves. This is a huge bonus for those of you who have trouble curling or getting a curl to stick!
  3. Aquasentials Easy Lotion Applicator: Never miss hard to reach places when moisturizing again – this lotion applicator has you covered. Sure, it seems a little basic… but isn’t it kind of practical? Simply put your lotion on the PVA sponge and apply to skin (such as your back and shoulders) for a more even distribution of your body lotion – much less strange than the tool looks in the photo.
  4. Beauty Bar 24k Golden Pulse Facial Massager: One of Japan’s greatest anti-aging secrets is facial massage, the same concept behind the face yoga I talked about last year. Whether with a massage stone, fingertips or a facial massager like this, massage is an old trick to prevent wrinkles and maintain youthful skin. Similar to the facial toning device, it’s a tool that stimulates skin, but this time with micro vibration (6,000 times per minute!) used to firm and contour the face.
  5. Clio Eyeguard Waterproof Liquid Liner: Have you guys tried one of these eyeliners before? The super precise, soft tip offers flawless liquid liner without dragging, while the handle allows for a comfortable grip so you can achieve perfect liner application every time. If you struggle to create even strokes with your liquid liner, this one is definitely worth a try!

WHAT TO WEAR WITH A COLLARED SHIRT

A collared shirt is not only a must-have wardrobe staple, it’s often required in dress from school uniforms to tons of job positions and more. It can come in the form of a blouse or casual button up t-shirt, but no matter what, one thing is true: the possibilities for accessorizing this top are endless.
What to Wear with a Collared Shirt

How to Wear A Collared Shirt

Just Add Jewelry
Some of my favorite ways to accessorize basic tops like this are statement baubles. Hello, bright springy jewels. Tucking a necklace – make sure the chain isn’t too long or too snug – under the collar is an easy way to sport this statement. If you’re working with a white top or even chambray, try a bright neon color or a necklace full of multicolored gems. If you have a nice blouse that needs something extra, adding a metallic necklace can keep it dressy without looking too stuffy. This is a great way to sport collars if you have limitations in how you can dress up your bottom half, and other jewelry like drop earrings or bold bracelets are welcomed too!

Get Preppy
It’s true, I’ve mentioned layering on multiple topics from my closet organization tips to fall fashion, but adding a layer to your top works here too, and even in spring. You don’t have to go crazy when layering – a top with a collar layered with a top without one will do just fine, and can even be pulled off with jewelry too. A light crewneck sweater that allows your collar and cuffs to peek through is perfect. You can reverse it and layer your unbuttoned top over a top as well for a more casual look.

Loose Layers
Although it seems like the only way to rock a sweater and button up is to go preppy – think all the above paired with a pencil skirt and kitten heels – you can actually create a casual chic vibe just by switching up your sweater. Instead of a crewneck, to achieve this look, you should opt for slouchy open cardigans like the ones below.

Conversely, you can layer a loose lace top or asymmetrical hemline underneath. Plus, if you’re able to snag a long top to layer, you can go super casual by pairing this with leggings (that is, if you don’t need to dress up your collared shirt for work!) – comfy, much?

4 MUST-HAVE DRESSES FOR SPRING EVENTS

Spring is in full swing – people are retiring their booties and raincoats and opting for something a little more effortless: spring dresses, flats and maybe a light jacket for the morning. Even if it’s notthat warm yet, I think the anticipation fuels our need to shed some layers around this time of year. There are also events popping up everywhere from weddings to dances to parties and it can seem like you need a whole new ensemble for each and every one. Luckily, you can likely head into every event in style if you have these four dress types in your closet:

The Date Dress

Tulle skirt prom dressSequin kimono dressBodycon lace dress
Perfect for: Spring dances and date nights
If you’ve got a spring dance or party to attend, a flirty dress is a low-key alternative to your average semi-formal getup. These dresses have subtle sparkle, tulle or a little lace and work for dinner dates with that special someone too. I like the dress in the middle for a dressy take on a wrap maxi dress; it’s sophisticated yet fun, and all you need are a killer pair of heels and a clutch to go along with it.

The Bohemian Dress

Lace shift dressFit ‘n flare mini dressFloral maxi dress
Perfect for: Brunch with friends or weekend errands
Going boho is still a huge trend this spring and it’s one of few ways to achieve an effortlessly chic look without having to go extraordinary lengths. All you need to accessorize these are a pair of strappy sandals and a long gold necklace or headpiece.

The Guest Dress

Must Have Dresses for Spring Events
Pleated skater dressBodycon wrap dressCami layer dress
Perfect for: Casual weddings, dinners, and graduation parties
Naturally you may be a guest to all sorts of events this season so your attire will shift accordingly, but a simple and light day dress in a pretty pastel is versatile enough for anything from a work get together to a graduation party – throw on a structured jacket or cute blazer if you need to look a little more polished without going too formal. Of course, if the event has a dress code, be sure to keep that in mind, weddings especially!

The Sun Dress

Bright N Happy maxi, Oversized floral maxi, Jaws tank dress
Perfect for: Unexpected beach days and lounging in the sun (of course)
This dress is for unusually warm and sunny spring days, those first days you get to hit the beach or go for a long walk without needing a jacket in the morning. It’ll carry you into summer BBQs and nights under the stars with effortless wear.

Office Outfit Ideas for Stylish Ladies

Usual office outfit ideas can be boring in the long run. Inject some elegant panache into your work wardrobe with these runway-inspired office outfit ideas.

Play with Silhouettes

A white button-down top and a black pencil skirt or pinstripe trousers are some of the generic office outfit ideas you might have. If you love this color combination, you can stick with it, but you can always play with silhouettes. Go for a loose top or flared bottoms for a unique take on the usual office outfit ideas.

Mix and Match It

Contrary to popular beliefs, print on print makes for good office outfit ideas. It’s just a matter of choosing contrasting designs that have a unifying aspect to it. The best way to do so is too choose two styles with a similar color family. This way, you can rock the print on print trend without drawing too much unnecessary attention.

Be Inspired by Evening Wear

Yes, you can’t wear evening gowns to work – but you can influence your office outfit ideas with these glamorous attires. Adopt a look that befits the red carpet by wearing silk tops or sash-tied blouses. Pair them with a structured trouser or pencil skirt for a power-dresser look.
pink silk top sash tie top

Be Sporty Spice

No, I’m not talking about Mel B of the Spice Girls. When it comes to office outfit ideas, it would not hurt to try sporty or athletic items, such as the jogger pants. What’s important is you choose a ‘formal’ style that will go well with your silk top or white button-down polo.

Widen your Horizons

Office outfit ideas should not be limited to slim pants or boot cut trousers. In fact, you can widen your horizons (literally) with wide-legged pants. Because of its immense volume, this bottom is best worn with a fitted or curve-hugging top.
wide leg pants white wide leg pants

Crop’s on Top

Cropped pants are all the rage nowadays. If your workplace has a pretty lax dress code, then why not fill your office outfit ideas with cropped pants? While solid-colored pants should be the norm, you can go with printed ones – as long as they don’t make you look juvenile and out of place.
camel cropped pants black cropped pants

Tighty Whities

Instead of the usual nude or black hosiery, take a risk and wear white stockings. Yes, it can be a fashion risk, but it makes up for unique office outfit ideas. Wear your tighty whities with a structured ensemble for a preppy yet respectable look.
